Coinbase is giving out $75 just for trying bitcoin

PSA: This deal is dead and buried deep in the ground. It’s currently $10 you can earn. Which is still better than nothing, but definitely not as good as it once was. Your choice if you want to do it still or not.

Note - this post looks long, but most of it is a FAQ. The actual post is short.

Yep, you read the title correctly. Basically, this is like a free trial, but way better – Coinbase will pay you to try them out for 5 minutes.

Long story short: Coinbase, the world’s leading bitcoin company, recently raised $75 million in a major funding round. To celebrate, they’re offering anyone who refers a new user that buys $101 or more in bitcoin a whopping $75 referral bonus. You can read full details here.

This is one of largest referral bonuses ever offered, period. When you buy $101 in Bitcoin, Coinbase charges you a $1 transaction fee. In return, they pay out $75 to the referring user as a thank you. You could then even immediately cash out that $100 in bitcoin back to real US dollars if you wanted to (which means there’s zero risk and you don’t have to trust/understand bitcoin at all to do this).

Normally, however, all of this $75 bonus goes to the referring user, and the person signing up themselves doesn’t make any money.

Thankfully, if you’d like to take advantage of this offer and reap the rewards, I think I figured out a pretty neat way to make this a win-win-win for everyone involved: if you signup with the referral link below, I’ll split the $75 referral bonus with you 50:50, so you’ll earn $37.50 for your efforts.

Put simply, spend $1 and get $37.50. Thanks, Coinbase.

That’s not even the best part, though: once you have a Coinbase account, you can go around and offer this exact same deal to all of your friends, making $37.50+ on every referral. Sign up just 100 friends, and you’ve just made a cool $3750. That’s exactly what I’ve already done (screenshots below).

If you’re more of a visual learner, here’s a quick video walking you through the entire process:

So that’s really all there is to it. If you’d like to take advantage of this, follow the instructions above. Otherwise, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, I’ve attached a FAQ at the bottom of this post, so please read on. And if you still have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to coinbasepromo (at) pomml (dot) com, and I’ll do my best to clear them up so you can take advantage of this amazing opportunity.

 Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Help! It says I can only purchase $50 of bitcoin per day! So how do I buy $101?

A: Don’t worry – this is normal. Many accounts are limited to just $50 per day initially. The good news is, you don’t have to buy all $101 in one go. You can split that amount up into as many small transactions as you want, and as long as you buy a total of $101 bitcoin over all your transactions, you’ll still get the referral bonus. As per Coinbase’s own FAQ here, “The amount can be a cumulative $100 (it can happen over multiple purchases).”

Q: How long will it take before I get the referral bonus from you?

A: As soon as you buy $101 or more in bitcoins and it posts to your account (meaning the status of the order[s] go[es] from “Pending” to “Complete”), we’ll receive the referral bonus, at which time we’ll send you your half of that referral bonus.

The time it takes for a bitcoin purchase to complete varies, but is generally anywhere from instant to one week. You can speed it up by adding a credit card for instant purchasing.

You can read about all this on Coinbase’s own referral FAQ here.

Q: Is this available in my country?

A: Coinbase is pretty global and expanding to new places all the time, and as of today, they’re in 27 different countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, and most of the European Union. You can see the full list here.

Q: Is this worth my time to do?

A: Well, let’s take a look at the time to money investment!

If it takes you 5 minutes to do this, and you earn $35, that’s earning money at a $420/hr rate.

$420 * 40 hour workweek * 50 weeks a year (let’s give you two nice weeks of vacation like a normal American) == $840,000 annual salary

If it takes you 10 minutes to do it, that’s still a $420,000 annual salary/rate of money earning you’re getting.

And even if it takes you 20 minutes to do it, which usually means you’re an exceptionally untrusting person and spend all your time reading FAQs like this (it’s okay, we don’t blame you, I’m happy I didn’t write this for no reason and someone is actually reading it!), that’s still a $210,000 annual salary.

So it’s actually a very good time investment, no matter how you cut it. Put in other words, if you’re willing to otherwise spend time doing things for an hourly rate of less than $420, $210, or $105, this is probably worth your time.

If you earn more than $420/hr doing work, however, this very well may not be worth your time. In any case, you should probably be rich as balls already, so I’m not sure what you’re doing reading this. Go away.

Moreover, your earning power isn’t limited to just $35. You can easily earn far more, with far less total time expenditure, by in turn referring your friends later down the line.

So yes, long story short, unless you’re rich as f*ck, this is probably worth your time.

Q: This sounds like a great offer, but how can I be sure I can trust you guys and/or Coinbase?

A: Great question. First: you can definitely trust Coinbase. They’re the world’s largest bitcoin wallet and exchange company, have raised over $100 million from some of the world’s leading investors (and the New York Stock Exchange itself), and have millions of users. They’ve done over 2.5 billion dollars in transactions. You can read more about them on their Wikipedia page here.

Also, a few friends of mine who knew the cofounders of Coinbase, Fred and Brian, reached out to them and received full approval for this referral split offer – so everything’s 100% kosher.

And if you don’t trust me – that’s actually pretty wise, not trusting complete random strangers on the internet. However:

  1. The good news is, the risk is extremely low. To take advantage of this offer, all you have to do is pay $1 in transaction fees to Bitcoin. If we don’t pay out your $37.50 share of the referral booty, you’re only out $1.

  2. Let’s not be strangers. Again, my name is Ben Yu, and I’m the cofounder of Sprayable, an alumni Thiel Fellow, and a Harvard dropout. You can email me anytime at coinbasepromo (at) pomml (dot) com (bespoke email address so I don’t get spammed everywhere, but you can probably find my ‘real’ email addresses elsewhere if you look for like, 2 seconds.)

Here’s a picture of me. (and an Icelandic Sheepdog, which is basically the best thing ever.)

And here are some generous testimonials offered by some of the people who have done this before to those who are still hesitant:

Ian Han: Signing up for Coinbase with Ben was a breeze. I bought the needed Bitcoin and a few days later everything was set in my account. Ben sent me my half of the referral bonus that night. Took about 10 minutes to sign up and I made $35. Added bonus, my Bitcoin value went up ~8% in just a couple of days – free money!

Carlos Rubio Martí: Yeah, this totally works! Actually I’m doing it now with my friends and some of them – they started to do it with some other people. Once you understand, it’s basically money for 20 minutes of creating an account

Sydney Liu: “Super easy and got everything put together in less than 5 minutes (10 minutes if you count reading Ben’s post). Been meaning to get some bitcoin so this was a perfect excuse and got free money out of it!”

Clayton Bradshaw: This works like a charm! Ben always has solid recommendations when it comes to this sort of thing. Easiest $35 you can make for basically no work! I usually am a skeptic of “easy money” but this is actually is a good opportunity!

Ashish Aggarwal: Can’t agree more here. It totally works and it is super easy to setup an account and sort everything. It took me less than 10 minutes of work :). It is no hoax and it works 100%. Given that how skeptical I am generally of referral links, this one is totally legit. It made me think how VC backed companies like Coinbase are throwing money at customer acquisition. Thanks Ben :)

Sheila Xu: Even though I don’t 100% understand how bitcoin works, but I am willing to try new things and learn on the go. Making this much money was easy! Not a scam or risky at all! :)

Jocelyn Jessop: Hey Ben, you’re absolutely right, this took like 3 minutes! Catch ya later :)

Benjamin Hero:
Ben is a genius! The article and the video tutorial made everything super simple and easy. You would be crazy not to do this.
